Client Reviews

Posted By Rhode Island Divorce Attorney || 31-Dec-2012

There's no nice way to say this; going through a divorce is one of the most awful and trying experiences one can endure. In short, divorce sucks. The only way to make it through a difficult divorce while maintaining some semblance of your sanity is to ensure you have a competent and exceptional representative on your side to shoulder the burden and fight on your behalf, which is why after a month of research I chose Attorney Sullivan to handle my case.

At our first meeting, I immediately felt something was different. After a half-dozen free consultations with other attorneys where I was promised everything from the kitchen sink to all the tea in China, I was quite refreshed with how honest Attorney Sullivan was. She asked me for a brief history of my spouse and the deterioration of our relationship, and then she clearly explained my rights and what I could expect during the divorce process. She didn't sugar-coat it, she didn't make me any wild promises about new houses and cars, but she did promise me that she would defend me to the best of her ability, devote her time to my case, always be accessible when I needed her, and that she would use her 30+ year experience in family law to get me the best possible result. Having just received a copy of my final divorce decree in the mail, I can now say without any doubt that Attorney Sullivan fulfilled every single one of her promises, and that she proved herself to be the absolute best possible choice I could have made for handling my case.

It wasn't without incredibly hard work though, for sure! I was only married for two years before our relationship failed, and my spouse, who had previously indicated she would work with me amicably, instead set out to make our divorce as miserable and lengthy as possible once she realized I was serious about ending our relationship. Lies, character assassination, myriad frivolous motions, and no-shows to Court were her weapons of choice, all delivered on her behalf by a notoriously difficult attorney. Through it all, Ms. Sullivan handled my case with the professionalism, dedication, and poise one would expect from one of the best in the State. Her arguments and motions were clearly well researched and exceptionally well presented in Court. I don't believe we lost a single one of our motions during the entire year-long ordeal. In contrast, the opposing attorney lost every single one of his, thanks entirely to Attorney Sullivan's well-constructed arguments based on her unprecedented knowledge of the law, case precedent, and her effective delivery of same before the Judge. It got to the point where I was actually feeling a bit embarrassed for the opposing attorney. Honestly, how many times can you approach your client, shrug your shoulders and go "Well, we lost that one too, but don't worry, we're still in good shape!"

Of course, I probably wasn't the easiest client to have either…. I may have more knowledge of the law than the average person, but I still had a lot of questions; some of them probably silly and time consuming for a seasoned attorney. Attorney Sullivan never made me feel silly though, and answered every question professionally, honestly, and most times within hours or even minutes after receiving my email. Her communication was one of the biggest factors in making this experience a whole lot easier on me as I was never left to wonder what something meant, or where my case stood. She touched base with me regularly and in a very friendly (and at times humorous!) manner, even if it was just to report that nothing new had happened since we last spoke. All of this led to me feeling just as well prepared for our Court dates as she clearly was.

The best part of all was that she delivered her services for a fair price, which was an exceptionally important factor in my case as I was not in a position where I could afford much, but I was going up against someone who was endeavoring to make our divorce as costly as possible. Throughout my entire case, Attorney Sullivan was incredibly fair in her billing, and I don't have a single complaint about any of her charged time. While mine was a relatively low-dollar case, I have no doubt that I got the same level of service as her million-dollar clients, and it was worth every penny.

Now that my divorce is finally over, I was all too happy to write this review of her services for those of you just starting out on your own. I encourage anyone considering Attorney Sullivan to contact me personally, and I will be happy to speak with you. The bottom line however is simple: Hire her; or hope to God the person on the other side of the isle doesn't.
